Well all of us knew that this was coming but we just didn’t know when, today Disneyland has yet again increased their prices for all admission into the two theme parks, as well as the mobile fastpass system ‘Maxpass’. Although 2019 for the Disneyland Resort was rather slow visitor wise, the opening of the immersive marvel themed land ‘Avengers Campus’ will be opening this Summer at Disney’s California Adventure. However, unless Disneyland does not go through with the same reservation system that they used for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, we believe that this year will be the same as years, so here is to hoping that the reservation will not fall into play for ‘Avengers Campus’. Let’s look over all the different price increases compared to 2019’s prices for theme park admission.
First let’s talk about single day ticket options, instead of the normal value, regular, and peak ticket options, Disney has implemented a tier system for select days. In 2019 the price for 1 day 1 park tickets were $104 for value, $129 for regular, and $149 for peak while 1 day park hopper tickets were at $154 for value, $179 for regular, and $199 for peak. The 2020 price increase has brought the ticket prices to almost a $60 difference with the different tiers. Starting off with 1 day 1 park, tier 1 at $104, tier 2 at $114, tier 3 at $124, tier 4 at $139, and tier 5 at $154 and diving right into the 1 day park hopper options, tier 1 at $159, tier 2 at $169, tier 3 at $179, tier 4 at $194, and tier 5 at $209. Not too much of a drastic change for the single day ticket options but still none the less a little bit pricy for the average Disneyland guest.
With the multi day tickets the tier system is not in play and prices have only raised for the various ticket options by about $10-$20. Starting off with the 2 day originally at $225 and now priced at $235, with park hopper originally at $280 and now at $290. The 3 day ticket was originally at $300 and now at $310, with park hopper originally at $355 and now at $365. The 4 day ticket was originally at $325 and now priced at $340, with park hopper originally at $380 and now at $395. The 5 day ticket was originally priced at $340 and now priced at $360, with park hopper originally being $395 not at $415. The popular mobile fastpass option ‘Maxpass’ has also received yet again another price increase, what started from the very launch of this system at $5 is now priced at $20, we understand the increases for the theme park tickets but increasing the price of Maxpass again is just kind of ridiculous.
Of course, annual pass holders which makes up most of Disneyland’s park population have also increased in price by quite a bit. Let’s first look at the cheapest pass option which is the Select Passport originally priced at $399 and now at $419 with a $20/month option. Next we go to the NEW pass that debuted last year the Flex Passport which was $599 and now at $649 with a $39.17/month option. The Deluxe Passport which is probably the most popular out of them all was $799 now priced at $829 with a $54.17/month option. The Signature Passport has now raised from $1149 to $1199 with a $85/month option and the highest one above that the Signature Plus has been raised from $1399 to $1449 with a $105.84/month option. The passholder price raises are getting kind of ridiculous considering the fact that the majority of Disneyland guests are passholders, but Disney has high hopes that with the success of Avengers Campus it will bring in more guests through the turnstiles.
